How to keep snakes away
To keep snakes off of your property and out of your home, take these steps:
Reduce rodent populations. Clean up pet food, sweep under and eliminate bird feeders, and store bird seed and other food sources in sealed containers.
Limit basking areas. Remove rocks, shrubs, boards, and debris. Snakes like to sun themselves on rocks – but rodents also favor these types of habitats, and eliminating them will likely lead the rodents and the snakes to pursue other living spaces.
Laws and regulations to be aware of

Contact your local city or county government to inquire further. No guarantee is made that information (or lack of information) associated with a species or control technique is completely accurate or current. You should become familiar with federal, state and local laws before beginning any wildlife control activities.
