If you have or suspect that you or any other person has been bitten or scratched by any wild mammal wash the wound with soap and water, seek medical attention immediately and contact the R.I. Department of Health at: (401) 222-2577

If a pet or livestock animal has been or suspected to have been bitten or scratched by a wild animal contact your veterinarian and local animal control officer. Protect yourself from exposure by wearing gloves when handling or examining your animals.
